Cigarettes Contribute To Weight Gain?
Many smokers hang on the the habit because of the belief that they will put on a few pounds if they drop the habit. But what if smoking was more a factor in weight gain – but one that took place over time? “How can this be?” you ask. Let me share why..
Your liver is your prime fat burning and your prime detoxification organ. Actually, your liver does over a thousand jobs in the body, but two of its most important ones are daily detoxification and the burning of fat.
Now, it’s no secret that smoking is a habit that pollutes the body with literally hundreds of different chemicals per cigarette. But, you may not know that with habits that pollute the body to such an extreme, your liver easily becomes overloaded from the constant need to detoxify all of these incoming chemicals.
In addition to being generally overworked, your liver will also eventually become congested with toxins. This happens because if your liver can’t render a toxin harmless for you, it’ll store it. Your liver does this to keep the incoming chemicals and toxins out of your blood – to keep them from causing immediate harm. It’s a short term favor your liver will do for you, but if it’s allowed to happen continually, it’ll absolutely cause problems over time.
By smoking, toxins will build in your liver and your entire body. Soon, your liver will become impaired in its ability to do its regular work – including burning fat and daily detoxification. Actually, smoking is an excellent way to build toxicity in your liver and thus hamper your liver’s ability to burn fat. But that’s not what most people want. It’s the exact opposite of what they want.
Quitting smoking is an excellent move to dramatically decrease your incoming toxic load. In addition, doing a body cleanse, including a liver cleanse, can work wonders and remove much of the stored toxicity that smokers and ex-smokers have in their bodies. Because, unfortunately, most accumulated toxicity will stay put until some deep cleansing, especially liver cleansing, is done. And there’s only so much of a toxic burden that a body can bear before it begins having problems. Weight gain is actually a symptom of an unhealthy liver! Health problems are too.
It’s common knowledge that health problems are more common and more serious in smokers. Do you know why? The pollution of the body with so many toxic chemicals is certainly a large part of the reason.
The other part is that by overburdening the liver, those chemicals actually hamper the liver’s ability to detoxify the body – in general. And when the liver can’t detoxify all of the incoming chemicals from smoking, and other common sources like processed foods, non-organic foods, lotions, cosmetics, and shampoos, you will undoubtedly begin to see health problems.
In addition, if you haven’t quit yet, cleansing your body can help you quit. This is because it’s the chemicals from the cigarettes trapped inside your body that cause the cravings. You didn’t have cigarette cravings before you began smoking, did you? So by removing these chemicals from your body, you can eliminate your cravings. Trust me, both dropping the butt and cleaning out your body can be the best things you’ve ever done for yourself. And you might just lose some weight in the process.
