Smart Lipo – A Modern Answer To The Ever Present Obesity Problem
Smart Lipo (or SmartLipo), in essence, is the lighter more high tech version of orthodox liposuction. Customary liposuction makes use of a larger incision, general anesthesia and a prolonged period of pain and recuperation. Smart Lipo is part of the new wave of scalpel-free, non-invasive cosmetic treatments.
The procedure is initiated with a small 1mm incision into which a probe is pushed. The probe houses the laser light that burns away the fat and results in the area being slimmer and more sculpted. As described at the Thermage clinic Smart Lipo treatments traditionally last between 45 minutes to one hour and although several visits may be required for the treatment of larger areas, recovery is much quicker.
The likelihood of complications is much higher with traditional liposuction as a consequence of the invasive procedures used to remove the fat. After the procedure is done, the patient is often left with big folds of skin that will later need to be removed via a lift procedure, increasing the possibility of complication and pain even more.
